“Just because your world is falling apart doesn’t mean you have to fall apart with it. When everything seems crazy, you be calm. Don’t let the outer chaos you are facing get inside of you.”
– Bryant McGill
Calm Inside the Chaos
Does anyone else feel like the world is caught up in one giant tornado? I’ve been feeling this way lately. Like my life has been turned upside down and is spinning and I can’t seem to find my footing.
As I sat thinking about this, I started thinking about tornadoes and hurricanes and suddenly remembered the magic of the centre, the Eye of the Storm.
How incredible that in the centre of all the chaos there is a space of calm.
I realized, this was where I needed to be, in the centre of the storm.
Since I have little control over the things happening in my outer world, I chose to start examining what I did have control over.
What I watch, read and listen to
How I move my body
When I sit in silence
What I eat
Where I let my thoughts roam
The thing you actually have control over is yourself and your inner world.
I have chosen to use this time to give myself what I need. Somedays it’s extra rest, somedays it’s extra connection, somedays it’s to work more, somedays it’s to spend the day in nature. The list goes on and on.
You can choose to see this time as an opportunity to give yourself what you need in order to find the calm inside the chaos.
Whether that’s rest, connection, stimulation.
Whatever it is, it is so important that you take this opportunity to do it.
Fill your days with a better understanding of yourself and what you need. Maybe it’s to learn something new, maybe it’s to take up running, maybe it’s to take a bath, maybe it’s to have a glass of wine and relax.
Whatever it is, give it to yourself.
Take a minute, 10 minutes, days. Take whatever you need in order to support yourself. Just make sure you take it; the time, the rest, the reconnection.
Start your day off by writing down
3 THINGS THAT WOULD MAKE TODAY AMAZING.
They can be something as simple as making someone smile, connecting with an old friend, laughing so hard you cry or even receiving a miracle.
Choose your 3 things and then keep an eye out because they may appear in unexpected ways. When you notice one, take a minute and give thanks because your day is officially amazing!
